Three Must-Try Spots in Central PA That Will Blow Your Taste Buds and Bring Out Your Inner Kid

Central Pennsylvania is full of hidden gems, and we’re always on the hunt for places that surprise and delight—whether it’s a mind-blowing meal or a place that lets us just have fun like big kids. This past month, we hit three local favorites that we cannot stop raving about: a charming French café in Camp Hill, an all-in-one date night dream spot in Carlisle, and a Greek restaurant in Harrisburg that had us scraping our plates clean.

A Slice of France in Camp Hill: Chef de Crêpe

Did you know there’s a little slice of France nestled in the heart of Camp Hill? We didn’t either—until we stumbled upon Chef de Crêpe, and now we’re telling everyone we know.

Whether you’re in the mood for sweet or savory, this place delivers crepes that could rival the streets of Paris. And let’s not forget the coffee—next level.

We started off with a Pistachio Rose Affogato. If you’re unfamiliar, an affogato is basically gelato topped with hot espresso—and yes, it tastes as dreamy as it sounds. Tim got the Rose Latte, proving once again that men can absolutely be fancy too.

The butter croissant? Perfectly flaky, golden, and buttery.

We dove into a Chicken Florentine Crêpe, filled with chicken, onions, béchamel, mozzarella, mushrooms, and spinach. It was rich, savory, and completely delicious. We also tried the Pesto Chicken Galette topped with tomatoes, mozzarella, and creamy burrata—seriously flavorful and comforting.

And of course, we couldn’t leave without dessert. Enter: the Crookie—a warm chocolate chip cookie wrapped in a buttery croissant. Yes, it’s as incredible as it sounds.

Pro tip: This place is small and cozy, so we definitely recommend making a reservation—you’ll want a seat for this one.

Act Like a Kid Again: Carlisle Sports Emporium

If you’ve been around our page for a while, you know Tim and I love acting like big kids—and we found the perfect place to do just that: Carlisle Sports Emporium.

This spot has everything you could want for a fun and active date night or weekend outing. We kicked off our visit with go-karts—I was comically slow, but it was the best time. Then we hit the batting cages, followed by a competitive round of mini golf on the castle-themed course.

Inside, things got even better. The arcade is seriously one of the best we’ve been to—packed with super interactive games, virtual reality setups around every corner, and even laser tag.

If you’re looking for something fun, nostalgic, and active, this is a total must-visit.

A Greek Feast in Harrisburg: Yianni’s Gyros

Let’s talk Greek food—because when it’s done right, it’s one of our all-time faves. And Yianni’s Gyros in Harrisburg? They nailed it.

We went in expecting good gyros… and left absolutely stuffed, impressed, and dreaming about that flaky baklava.

Here’s what we ordered (and devoured):

• Hummus with Pita Points – Creamy, garlicky, and delicious.

• Greek Cheeseballs – Served with marinara and full of flavor.

• Souvlaki Dinner (Pork) – Served over rice, with a side of heavenly Greek lemon potatoes.

• Hercules Gyro – Lamb and beef, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, fries inside the pita (!), and the creamiest tzatziki ever.

• Baklava – Buttery, flaky, sweet perfection.

The portions are generous, the service is fast and friendly, and the menu has something for everyone. Whether you’re craving a quick lunch or a full-blown feast, Yianni’s delivers.
