But with so many festive things to see and do, how do you know which spots are really worth the hype?
Don’t worry, The Hungie Couple has done the legwork for you. We went in 2024 and had the TIME OF OUR LIVES. Here’s our breakdown of where to stay, what to eat, and how to experience NYC’s holiday magic like a pro.
Where to Stay: Sofitel New York
If you’re looking for luxury without breaking the bank, Sofitel New York in Midtown Manhattan is a gem. It’s perfectly located within walking distance of top attractions like Bryant Park, Times Square, and Rockefeller Center.

The hotel itself feels like something out of a Christmas movie. They have top tier, elegant holiday décor, twinkling lights, and a cozy, festive atmosphere from the moment you step inside. The rooms are spacious and luxurious, the customer service is exceptional, and there’s even a stylish cocktail bar downstairs that’s perfect for a nightcap after a long day of exploring.

For a high-end hotel in such a prime location, it’s surprisingly one of the more affordable options in the area.

Pro Tip: Stay in Midtown if you want to be close to the touristy things. Stay in Upper East Side, if you’re looking for quieter, cozy elegance.

Some of Our Bryant Park Favorites:
Strawberro – The viral 2024 sensation! These chocolate-covered strawberries are on another level: juicy, perfectly sweet, and dipped in silky, rich Belgian chocolate. Lines get long, so go early!

Baked Cheese Haus – Famous for its Swiss raclette. It’s warm, gooey cheese scraped straight off the wheel onto toasted baguettes filled with savory meats. The smell alone is irresistible!

The Lodge Bar – The best spot for people-watching, festive cocktails, and warming up after a few laps on the rink.

No Chewing Allowed & S’mores N More NYC for hot chocolate- The hot chocolate at these two places is HARD TO BEAT! Huge shout out to the Strawberry Pop Tart flavored marshmallow at S’mores N More!

My Christmas Morning in Manhattan Tour
If you want to experience all the iconic NYC Christmas sights in one go, this is the tour for you. This is one of the best Christmas tours NYC has to offer. The Christmas Morning in Manhattan Tour takes you to Rockefeller Center, Macy’s, and other festive hotspots, all from the comfort of a heated bus.

The best part? You’ll get exclusive access to Papillon, one of NYC’s most beautiful Christmas-themed restaurants. Normally, you can’t even get a reservation there during the holidays, but this tour lets you skip the line and enjoy breakfast before it opens to the public. That perk alone makes it totally worth it.

Oscar Wilde
If there’s one restaurant that takes Christmas décor to the next level, it’s Oscar Wilde in the Flatiron District. This Victorian-style bar transforms into a glittering winter wonderland because every inch is draped in garlands, ornaments, and twinkling lights.

While the food is OK (not the highlight), the atmosphere is absolutely magical and totally worth it. This is one of the few spots that actually accepts reservations during the holiday season, and you’ll need one unless you want to wait hours for a table.

Glace — The Best Hot Chocolate in NYC
If you’re a hot chocolate lover, you cannot skip Glace on the Upper East Side. It might just be the best hot chocolate in New York City. Their creamy, rich hot chocolate is made from premium dark chocolate and local dairy from Upstate New York, topped with dreamy toasted marshmallow fluff.

With several variations to choose from, this cozy café is a warm, decadent escape from the city chill and a must for your NYC winter itinerary.

Pro Tip: Take your hot chocolate and go for a stroll in near by Central Park!

Ice Skating at Rockefeller Center
No NYC Christmas trip is complete without a stop at the Rockefeller Center Rink. Skating beneath the sparkling tree and bright city lights feels like stepping straight into a holiday movie.

But fair warning, the crowds are massive. Sessions sell out fast, and lines can get long, so definitely book in advance. Ticket prices range from $22–$124, depending on the day, time, and whether you need to rent skates.
