Looking for the perfect Pennsylvania weekend getaway? Just a short drive from Harrisburg, we have discovered four unforgettable stays that make it easy to slow down, recharge, and escape the everyday. From peaceful glamping near Raystown Lake, to a romantic lakeside retreat in the Pocono Mountains, to a cozy cabin surrounded by Lancaster County farmland, each destination offers a completely different experience while delivering the same sense of relaxation and reset.
Whether you’re planning a couples getaway in Pennsylvania, searching for a pet-friendly escape, or simply craving a quiet weekend retreat, these unique stays combine scenic views, cozy accommodations, and the kind of atmosphere that helps you truly unwind.
Airydale Retreat
Tucked away less than 90 minutes from Harrisburg, we stumbled on a peaceful escape that immediately earned a spot on our “return ASAP” list.
Our stay in Dome 2 at Airydale Retreat felt like the perfect blend of nature and comfort, set in the heart of the Raystown Lake region. It had all the charm of camping with quiet mornings, fresh air, and wide-open views, but without sacrificing the little luxuries that make a getaway truly relaxing.

Inside the dome, everything was thoughtfully designed for comfort: a full kitchen, a cozy bed, heating and AC, a pellet stove, even a heated blanket for chilly nights. The real highlight, though, was the oversized window that framed the surrounding landscape like a living painting.

One of the best parts? It’s pet-friendly. Ophelia joined us for the trip and was completely in her element, exploring and soaking up every second right alongside us.

Our days were simple in the best way, unwinding by the fire, exploring nearby trails, and starting one morning with a stop at Allensville Donuts. This Amish run donut shop might just serve some of the best donuts we’ve ever had but get there early because they sell out fast!
Beyond the domes, Airydale Retreat also offers luxury glamping tents, making it an ideal destination whether you’re planning a romantic weekend or a quiet reset in nature.

If you’re looking for a unique stay near Raystown Lake, this is one to add to your list.
Pro tip: Take a short drive over to Hawn’s Overlook, about 20 minutes away, for an easy walk leading to stunning panoramic views of the lake.

Cottages on Saylor’s Lake
if you’re craving a weekend that leans fully into romance, relaxation, and a little bit of fun, this one checks every box.
Less than two hours from Harrisburg, we discovered a brand-new escape tucked into the Pocono Mountains that feels like it was designed entirely with couples in mind. “Laurel,” a lakeside bungalow at The Cottages on Saylors Lake, is the kind of place where everything encourages you to slow down, reconnect, and simply enjoy being together.

From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere does the heavy lifting. Soft pink tones, layered textures, and thoughtful design details create a warm, almost dreamlike setting that makes it easy to leave the outside world behind. It’s equal parts cozy and elevated, intimate without feeling overdone.

The experience here is all about intentional relaxation. A deep freestanding soaking tub invites you to truly unwind, while plush robes add that extra touch of comfort that makes you want to linger just a little longer. Whether you’re sipping coffee by the lake in the morning or winding down after a quiet evening in, everything about the space encourages you to be present.

It’s worth noting that this particular stay is not pet-friendly, so it’s best suited for a true couples retreat.
If a slow, meaningful getaway has been on your mind, one where connection comes first and distractions are few, this lakeside bungalow in Saylorsburg might be exactly what you’re looking for.
BONUS – You will get a visit from buddy, the friendliest duck around. He just likes to check in on the guests from time to time.

Red Run Resort
We just got back from the kind of weekend that quiets the world and resets everything. The kind where you slow down without even trying and leave feeling refreshed.
This time, it led us to a cozy A-frame cabin at Red Run Resort, tucked into the farmland of Lancaster. Located less than an hour from Harrisburg and approximately 1.5 hours from Philadelphia. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we had stepped into a slower, softer rhythm of life.

The setting alone does most of the work. Lakeside views, open farmland, and a quiet porch that invites you to sit and stay awhile. And then there’s the hot tub, perfectly positioned to overlook the water, making it almost impossible not to fully unwind. Inside, the cabin strikes that ideal balance between rustic charm and modern comfort. With a cozy living space, full kitchen, and one of the most comfortable beds we’ve come across. But the real standout? The bathtub. Deep, relaxing, and easily the kind you lose track of time in.

It’s also dog-friendly! So Ophelia got to join us. She was just as content as we were, exploring and settling into the peaceful surroundings.

What truly elevated the stay, though, was the hospitality. Fresh Lancaster whoopie pies greeted us on arrival, and the on-site chickens meant fresh eggs! It’s those small, thoughtful touches that make a place feel memorable.

Exploring Ephrata
We spent part of our trip exploring nearby Ephrata, just a short 10-15 minute drive away. A stop at Cocalico Coffee Crafters quickly turned into a highlight. We went for drinks. Where got an iced blueberry muffin latte and an iced matcha. We picked up sour cream dream cookies that completely lived up to the name on our way out.
Before heading home, we made one more stop at The Village Farm Market, a spot filled with homemade baked goods. Naturally, we couldn’t leave without the strawberry angel food cake. Which, somehow, made it all the way back home with us.
By the time we packed up, we were already talking about our return. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with the right mix of comfort and charm, this is one worth bookmarking.

The Inn at Westwynd Farm
Tucked just minutes from the attractions of Hershey and nearby Harrisburg is the kind of getaway that feels straight out of a fairytale. The kind of place so charming and peaceful, it almost feels cinematic from the moment you arrive. Our recent weekend escape to The Inn at Westwynd Farm was exactly that, a soul-resetting retreat that reminded us how good it feels to truly slow down.

Set on 32 peaceful acres of equestrian farmland in Hummelstown, this 12-room bed and breakfast instantly feels relaxing. From the warm hospitality to the scenic surroundings, every detail encourages you to slow down, unplug, and leave feeling refreshed.

For travelers looking for a little extra privacy, the inn’s private suite, The Carriage House, feels like the perfect home away from home. The cozy cottage sleeps up to six guests and includes a spacious living area, fireplace, kitchen, and full bathroom. It combines all the comforts of home with the elevated hospitality that makes a stay here feel truly special.

And then there’s breakfast, which somehow manages to exceed every expectation. The inn’s talented chefs prepare breakfast at your preferred time and serve it in a gorgeous dining space that feels both elegant and inviting. During our stay, we had the pleasure of meeting Chef Dan, whose warmth and charm are just as memorable as his cooking. From a tropical fruit salad topped with golden shavings to a cinnamon swirl cherry cheesecake stuffed French toast, every bite felt unforgettable. His culinary talent is so respected that his ham and bean soup was once selected to be served to the Queen of England.

A stay at The Inn at Westwynd Farm deserves a spot on every 2026 Pennsylvania travel bucket list. It’s more than just a place to stay, it’s a true slice of heaven tucked into the Pennsylvania countryside.
