Weekly Roundup w/e 6/1

Weekly Roundup: BBQ That’ll Ruin You (In the Best Way), a Cheesesteak Worth the Drive, and a Hike With a Jaw-Dropping View

If you’re anything like us, your weekends revolve around three things: great food, good views, and discovering hidden gems across Pennsylvania. This week delivered all that and more. Here’s what made the cut:

BBQ That Sets the Bar High – Road Hawg BBQ, Dillsburg, PA

Warning: Once you try this BBQ, nothing else will compare.

We’ve been loyal fans of Road Hawg BBQ for years—and for good reason. They catered our Christmas parties and even stepped in for our backyard wedding when our destination plans got scrapped in 2020. That’s how much we trust them with the big moments.

Their BBQ is always on point: smoky, juicy, fall-off-the-bone perfection.

What we ordered:

• BBQ Sampler – a powerhouse plate of smoked wings, ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and two sides. Don’t skip the smoked baked beans—they’re genuinely life-changing.

• El Diablo Chicken Sandwich – crispy chicken tossed in spicy house-made Diablo sauce, cooled down with ranch, pickles, and lettuce on a toasted brioche bun.

Cheesesteak Dreams Outside of Philly – Johnny’s Pizza, Bryn Mawr, PA

Cheesesteak lovers, this one’s a must.

Sure, Philly has its icons—but Johnny’s Pizza in Bryn Mawr might just steal the show. We went all in on their 20-inch Monster Cheesesteak and… wow.

What made it special?

• Thin-sliced ribeye

• Melted Cooper Sharp cheese

• Perfectly toasted seeded roll

• And an option for Whiz, Sharp Provolone, Mozzarella & more

Also worth noting: their fries are golden, crispy, and seasoned just right.

A Hike With Big Payoff – Hawn’s Overlook, Raystown Lake

If you’re looking for a view that feels like a reward without the grueling trek, head to Hawn’s Overlook. This short, flat trail leads to a sweeping, jaw-dropping view over Raystown Lake—a true hidden gem in PA.

Perfect for families, casual hikers, or anyone looking to soak in some natural beauty without breaking a sweat.
